Diploma & Pathway Programs
Your stepping stone to a top Australian university degree
Diploma and pathway programs are specifically designed for international students who do not meet direct entry requirements for Australian universities. These programs, typically run by university-affiliated pathway colleges, provide 8-16 months of intensive academic preparation. Upon successful completion, students are guaranteed entry into the second year of a Bachelor's degree at the partnered university — meaning you do not lose any time. This pathway is ideal for Nepali students whose +2 marks are slightly below direct entry requirements or who need additional English preparation.

Eligibility Requirements
Meeting these requirements strengthens your application. Our counselors can help you identify areas to improve and present the strongest possible profile.
- Completed +2 or equivalent — marks below direct entry threshold (typically 55-65% for pathway)
- IELTS Academic 5.5-6.0 overall (lower than direct university entry requirement)
- Some pathways accept students who have completed only Year 11 (for foundation programs)
- Strong motivation and commitment to progressing to university
- Genuine Student (GS) requirement applies for student visa
- Financial capacity for pathway program fees plus subsequent university tuition
Application Process
We have streamlined the study abroad application process into clear, manageable steps. Our team guides you through each stage to maximize your chances of admission.
Academic Assessment
We review your +2 results and English proficiency to determine which pathway is best: Foundation Studies (for students needing more preparation) or Diploma (for students closer to university readiness). We consider which university you want to eventually attend.
Pathway College Selection
We match you with the right pathway college based on your target university, budget, location preference, and academic profile. We explain the guaranteed progression requirements clearly so you know what grades you need to advance.
Application & Enrolment
We prepare and submit your pathway application. Admission offers typically arrive within 1-3 weeks. Once you accept and pay your deposit, you receive your CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment) for the pathway program.
Visa Application
We prepare your Subclass 500 student visa application. Your CoE will show the pathway program, and some pathway colleges issue a 'package offer' CoE that includes both the pathway and the university degree — this strengthens your GS case.
Pathway Studies
Complete your foundation or diploma program with the required grades (typically 60-70% average). The pathway college provides academic support, tutoring, and study skills workshops to ensure your success.
University Progression
Upon meeting the progression requirements, you automatically receive your university offer and a new CoE. You transition seamlessly into the Bachelor's degree — no additional visa application needed if your visa covers the full study period.
Costs & Scholarships
Understanding the financial commitment is crucial for planning your study abroad journey. Here is a breakdown of typical costs and available funding options.
Foundation programs: AUD 18,000-28,000 (8-12 months). Diploma programs: AUD 24,000-34,000 (8-16 months). These are slightly lower than university tuition. Once you progress to university, standard tuition applies. Total pathway + degree cost is only marginally more than direct entry since you complete in the same total time.
Same living cost requirements as university students. Pathway colleges often arrange student accommodation or homestay, making the transition easier. Shared apartments near pathway colleges typically cost AUD 150-250/week.
Pathway colleges offer merit-based scholarships and early-bird discounts. Some examples: Monash College International Merit Scholarship (up to 20% tuition reduction), UNSW Global Transition Program Scholarship, Deakin College Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Scholarships at the pathway stage are smaller but help reduce the overall cost.

Student Life
Studying abroad is about more than just academics. Here is what you can expect from life as an international student.
Pathway colleges offer a more supportive, smaller-class environment compared to large university lectures. Class sizes are typically 20-30 students, and you get more individual attention from lecturers. This is particularly beneficial for students adjusting to the Australian education system's emphasis on critical thinking, independent research, and active participation.
You have the same work rights as university students — 48 hours per fortnight during term and unlimited during breaks. Many pathway students work part-time while studying, and the pathway college's student services team can help with job search support.
The pathway experience also helps you build a social network before entering university. You will make friends from around the world during the pathway program, and many of them will progress to the same university as you, providing a familiar support network in your first university year.
