What Our Students Say

Real stories from students who achieved their dream of studying abroad with our guidance and support.

“StudyAustralia Nepal guided me through the entire process of getting into Monash University for my Masters in Information Technology. The Genuine Student statement was the part I was most worried about, but their counselors knew exactly what immigration looks for. My visa was approved in just 5 weeks. I received a 20% scholarship which saved me over AUD 14,000. Now I am in Melbourne, working part-time at a tech company while studying. The 48-hour work rights help me cover most of my living costs. Best decision I ever made.”

“I chose Adelaide on StudyAustralia Nepal's recommendation because of the lower cost of living and regional PR benefits. I am doing my Masters in Professional Engineering at the University of Adelaide — a Group of Eight university. My total expenses here are about 30% less than what my friends pay in Sydney. The counselors helped me get a Destination Australia Scholarship worth AUD 15,000 per year, which I did not even know existed. Adelaide has a great Nepali community and the university support for international students is excellent.”

“I came to Australia through the pathway route. My +2 marks were not high enough for direct entry, so StudyAustralia Nepal recommended the UNSW Foundation Studies program. After completing that with good grades, I entered UNSW directly into the Bachelor of Computer Science. The pathway program actually helped me adjust to the Australian education system before jumping into university. Now I am in my second year at UNSW and my GPA is 3.5. Without StudyAustralia Nepal's pathway recommendation, I might have applied to a lower-ranked university directly.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Genuine Student (GS) requirement and how does it differ from GTE?
In March 2024, Australia replaced the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement with the Genuine Student (GS) requirement for student visa applications. Under the old GTE, you had to prove you would return home after studies. The new GS focuses on whether you are a genuine student — immigration assesses your education history, why you chose your specific course and university, how the course fits your career plans, and your understanding of studying in Australia. The GS requirement is assessed holistically. A logical academic progression (e.g., Bachelor's in IT from Nepal leading to Masters in IT in Australia) is viewed favorably. Career changes or gaps need strong justification. Our counselors are experts in preparing GS statements that satisfy immigration requirements.
How much bank balance do I need for an Australian student visa from Nepal?
As of 2024, you need to demonstrate access to funds covering: first year of tuition (varies by university, typically AUD 20,000-50,000), plus AUD 29,710 for living expenses (increased from AUD 21,041), plus AUD 2,000 for return airfare. For a spouse, add AUD 10,394; for each child, add AUD 4,449. For example, if your tuition is AUD 35,000, you need approximately AUD 66,710 (around NPR 65-70 lakh). Funds should be in your or your sponsor's account for at least 3-6 months. We guide you on exactly how to structure your financial evidence for maximum visa approval chances.
What is the PR pathway after studying in Australia?
After completing your Australian degree, you receive a post-study work visa (subclass 485) for 2-4 years depending on your qualification. During this time, you work in your field and gain the experience needed for permanent residency. The PR pathway involves: 1) Skills assessment from the relevant authority for your occupation, 2) English proficiency (IELTS 7.0+ or PTE 65+ ideally), 3) Points calculation under the General Skilled Migration system — your Australian qualification (15-20 points), age (25-30 points), English (10-20 points), and Australian work experience (5-20 points), 4) Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect, 5) Receive an invitation and apply for a subclass 189, 190, or 491 visa. Studying and working in regional Australia gives additional points and visa advantages.
IELTS vs PTE — which should I take for Australia?
Both are accepted by all Australian universities and immigration. PTE Academic has become increasingly popular among Nepali students because: results come in 1-2 days (IELTS takes 13 days), computer-based scoring eliminates human bias, many students find PTE speaking easier as you speak to a computer rather than a human examiner, and test dates are more frequent and flexible. However, some students prefer IELTS because of wider familiarity, more preparation resources in Nepal, and comfort with the format. Score equivalences: IELTS 6.0 = PTE 50, IELTS 6.5 = PTE 58, IELTS 7.0 = PTE 65, IELTS 8.0 = PTE 79. We recommend trying practice tests for both and choosing the one that suits your strengths.
Does a gap year affect my Australian student visa application?
A study gap of 1-3 years is common and generally not a problem if you can justify it. Common accepted reasons include: working to save funds for studies, preparing for English tests, family responsibilities, or professional experience. A gap of 4+ years requires a stronger explanation in your Genuine Student statement. The key is showing that your study plan is a logical next step. If you worked during the gap in a field related to your intended studies, that actually strengthens your application. If the gap was unproductive, you need to explain your motivation for returning to study. We help craft gap justifications that immigration officers find credible.
